ABOUT CHEF JOHN AK

If I had to choose one person who has inspired me more than anyone else, it would have to be my grandfather. He was a humble man with a larger-than-life personality. The list would be endless of all the life lessons he has taught me over the years, but at the forefront were always the importance of valuing human connection and spreading love out into the world. In 2022, he passed away, but even until the end, he pushed me to be a better chef and, of course, a better person. To carry on his legacy, a friend and I devised a plan to buy a food trailer and drive it from Phoenix, Arizona, to Anchorage, Alaska, giving away free food along the way at each national park we visit. Cooking has always been a passion of mine, and now being able to share that passion with fellow travellers fills me with so much joy and motivation that I can't properly express it in words. I just want to say a final thank you to all those who have supported us on this adventure thus far, and also to those who will in the future; we could not have gone this far without you all. Lastly, I would like to thank my grandfather, Chief AJ. I would not be the man I am today without you. This is for you.

Culinary Background:

I received formal training at the Culinary Institute of America, where I learned the art of cooking in New York and across Europe. I have worked at numerous restaurants, and most notably Fenway Park for the Red Socks. Recently I have been running a meal prep business out of my friends gym in Alaska.
